The Aftermath.....

I first need to say that I am so lucky to still be in my home. The fire is no where near us. we still have all of our belongings and my heart truly aches for those who have suffered any losses. But NEVER in my life have I been so scared to be in my own home. On Monday and Tuesday we had winds that averaged 75-80 mph! Even through the night! Beaumont schools have been closed all week, because of severe damage and had to bring in emergency repair crews to try and have it ready by next week.
Monday night we heard this huge bang/thump and it scared me so bad that I had a hard time figuring out what it was. The next morning as I was walking around checking stuff out I noticed that our attic door was missing, so I grabbed a step ladder and peeked up there. Sure enough the door had been sucked up. I was able to get it and put it back, then ten minutes later it was sucked up again... thats when I took a picture.

When the winds finally slowed to a (heavy)breeze we went into the backyard to start the clean up and check the damage to the roof, this is what we saw......

Granted its mostly just the patio cover, but it did take up part of the roof, thank goodness we hadn't taken down our UGLY HUGE antennae yet.
Again, I am so happy to still have a home and everything can be repaired. One of my friends up here just put in a new pool and gazebo this summer. Right now that gazebo is in the middle of their pool and its too big and heavy to get out so they had to cut it up. That's bad!

You wouldn't believe me if I told you, so I took pictures!

The wind up here has been relentless! My poor dogs (I don't say that too often these days) but they have been blown all over the place so I was nice enough to let them in the house. I swear Dewey gets his feelings hurt when the wind blows him over.. its funny to watch!

But anyway... all of the dirt on my floors and table (like how I was able to write "Hi Mom") has come in through the windows and doors being totally shut! And my poor laundry room, I can't wait to move it to the other side of the house!

We've lost shingles, plants, those killer seed pods off of our Magnolia tree that we hope won't kill anyone or our cars, toys and power about a half a dozen times! Its getting scary, I think we're going to head down to my moms!

A cute Lia story

Here is an email I just sent Billy:
So I have been trying to get Lia to take a nap for about 45 minutes. While this has been going on I've also been trying to do laundry. So I was out in the laundry room (about 30 minutes ago) and when I was in there I heard her at the sliding glass door. She didn't know I was out there and she opened the door and was calling the doggies in a loud whisper, then when they came in she shut the door and started to walk away. I called her name... she SCREAMED and ran back into her room. Oh man I was laughing.
So I put her back in bed, close her door a little and proceeded with the laundry. I've been folding it in our room with the tv on so I don't really hear too much. Well, I went out into the kitchen to put away some towels, bibs and burp cloths when I hear a little rustling around in the kitchen, then hear these cute little feet go scurrying out of the kitchen and see a pink blur in the distance. So I sneak back into the living room to find her trying to hide. I bit my lip so hard, because I did NOT want to laugh. But after the tears started pouring out of my eyes I had to let it out. She was cracking up too and just kept saying "Hi Mom, hide a boo."
I love being a mom!

Our Sweetest Blessing

Here is Sophie in her blessing gown. She is truly an amazing baby, I am so happy to have her!

Wild Wacky Whirlwind of a Weekend!

Here are some of the pictures from this incredibly busy weekend! First, for some reason I decided to clean out my closet. As you can see Lia had a great time playing with my wedding dress, I think it was a little heavy for her to carry around so she started to take a nap on it.

She is also learning how to play dress up and is LOVING it! The cape she is wearing is the cape my mom made for me when I was little, and we all get the biggest kick out of watching her run around in it.

I had to a picture of Sophie in her sweet kicks from Alan and Andrea. Her first gazelles!

The picture of the three of us was taken at the pumpkin patch where we had a wonderful time, as you can tell by the look on Lia and her Grandma's face. I might also mention that Billy and I hiked a 50 foot tiger slide for Lia's enjoyment and I managed to loose everything we came in with.

Then Saturday we had my good friend Jenn's bridal shower in my backyard, it was beautiful! I have to post some pictures of her cake. It was amazing, but its late and I'll do it later.

Shake your tailfeather!

So here's Lia's new costume!!!!

Have you ever had a moment in your life that left you unable to describe how you felt or speechless??? I did, it was lastnight. Billy was trying to feed Sophie, but she was not having it. So he left her almost full bottle on the couch for me to try later on.
Well about a half an hour later I hear her SCREAMING and I start to talk to her telling her that I'll be right there trying to calm her down. Then all of a sudden I hear nothing. So I start to freak out thinking that Lia is probably sitting on her or something. So I run in there to see Lia's back facing me, but she didn't seem to be doing anything wrong, then I noticed that she had the bottle in her hand and was feeding the baby. She even had the burp rag and was cleaning her face when it got wet.

Never in my life have I been so proud! She did such a good job that Sophie didn't even throw up! Then after all of the cutness and sweetness was over she did this with a highlighter. Again, speechless.
