Don't even start....
Unless all you want to hear about is the amazing concert we just went to, you might just want to pass us by for the next few weeks.
There are really no words to describe this show. We had floor seats in the 3rd section so we were with a bunch of returning-die hards (myself included) and it never gets old. On our way out people were saying that it was the most amazing, mind blowing and can't believe what they just saw and heard experience ever!
I don't think my Billy knew how much he would love Billy Joel. He is so funny. The first thing he said was "Hello, I'm Billy Joels dad, but don't worry, I know his sh(*" he sprawled out across Elton's piano and looked adoringly into his eyes... he is a true performer.

As truly amazing as Billy Joel is, my heart belongs to Sir Elton. This was my fourth or fifth time to see him, my second time seeing this concert. He played for the first hour and a half and when he left the stage I could have left happy, but then realized I still had Billy Joel and then the duets. Really. Truly. Incredible. Amazing.
We took our old camera, it was definitely not the time to try to remember how to use it.... crappy pictures.
This was the two of them hugging when they first came out on stage.
And this is what I like to call the Chapstick from hell. My lips were really dry on the way down and since we had an hour before the show started we went and got gas and I took the 20.00 bill out of Billy's wallet to go and buy this 1.50 tube of chapstick. Well, when we arrived at the venue we couldn't find the price of parking so we pull up and as we are right in front we realize that it is 20.00! So I start scrounging through everything and I'm able to come up with a total of 19.40!!! 60 cents short!!!!!! SO we have to pull through the whole parking lot, drive 2 miles to a gas station use their ATM machine and drive back. Find our seats with 25 minutes to spare and I sat there unable to breathe until the show started.

just some for fun
Billy's Birthday
Here is the card Erin got him, I think I'm going to frame it.

I found out just a few days before hand that some of my cousins would be at DL that day for their daughters performance. Sophie and I ditched our group to go and watch it. They were AMAZING! There were maybe 30 girls from the ages of 5 on up. They play and dance at the same time... really neat to watch! I asked them what made their daughter choose the violin and they said she had been asking for one for Christmas so they got it for her and she's been playing for a while now. If I was her age and was playing the violin... it would most definitely not be because I wanted to, it would be because my mom made me do it.

They have an amazing girl.... well, two of them to be exact.
a little party
Billy turned 30 on the 20th and everyone who knows me knows I always make big deal about them. Well, since we're going to see Elton John and Billy Joel (tomorrow night at this time, ahhhhhh!!!!!!) got season tickets to the Panteges and went to Disneyland on his actual birthday, I decided just to make a "deal" and take the big off of it. It was a funny night because no family member could make it, so we had good friends come over for my famous pineapple upside down cake, and chocolate for the non-pineapple lovers. We had a great time, the missionaries even came over to join in.
For some reason I thought these candles would be fun. I thought wrong. As Kristen and I were trying to light them we found out they were sparklers also... my plan was to light all 30, but I think we got somewhere around 12. Lia kept yelling "My eye! My eye!"
I had to make some adjustments to the plates I bought. Since I'm a little sensitive about weight remarks I took a sharpie to every plate to change it to "Older but wiser" not
"Older butt wider!"
Fun with Grandma
I have to give lots of credit where it is due. My mom has so much fun with our girls. She will come by our house with a box of ice cream bars just so she can sit on the front porch and share one with them or if we go to her house she will walk around the block with them and pick every single dandelion in sight and make a wish ask they blow it apart and Lia's favorite thing to do it pick oranges from her trees then share one on the patio.

A good one
Yesterday we we're all out back playing around and Lia thought it would be fun to play fetch with Dewey. So we were standing on the porch and throwing a ball into the far back. Because we have the dumbest dogs ever... or the most OCD dogs ever... instead of dropping it off at my feet he would run past me and drop it off at the sliding glass door. It started to get kind of old so I would try to block him as he went by and it turned into kind of a fun game. After his 10th attempt to make it around me I went "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh" at him (in a nice way) and Lia yelled "OH MY GOSH MY MOM IS A PIRATE"

Preside, Provide and Protect With Love
Yesterday I had Sharing Time again. And this years theme is "My Eternal Family" and this month they are teaching about each persons' role and responsibility in a family. I got to teach about dads. (insert tears here) This lesson was so sweet, I chose to present it in a really fun way. I asked a friends husband who likes to surf, skate, play ice hockey... and is a doctor. And I asked him to bring one church shoe, a work shoe, a slipper and a "sporty" shoe (he brought an hockey skate) and he talked about the different roles he plays wearing the different shoes.
In church shoes, he gives blessings and presides over his family. With the work shoes on he provides food and shelter and gets to help people and set an example for his kids. With the slipper he tucks his kids into bed at night and protects them from scary dreams and with the hockey skate he teaches his kids fun things and gets to spend time loving his family.
Then I handed out a little note for each of the kids to stick in their dads shoes... they loved it.
I shared one experience about my own dad... he always protected us. Everynight after everyone was in bed he checked on us all to make sure we were alseep, if we weren't he told us we better hurry, then he would walk around the house and check every door and window. We never felt scared... EVER, we knew our dad had done everything he could to protect us.
He received the Priesthood a few years before he passed, and was never able to give me a blessing, but now that I think about it... he was my blessing.

I am grateful my babies will have this type of man in their lives, always. I am also grateful that the two men I love the most are such great examples of this.
